About the course
Course Title: Foundations of Painting: Techniques, Emotional Intelligence, and Creative Vision
Course Description:
This undergraduate course introduces students to foundational painting skills, blending traditional techniques with contemporary approaches to emotional intelligence, perception, and creativity. Students will explore the relationship between technical proficiency and creative expression, learning how to harness their emotional intelligence to enhance their artistic practice. The course integrates the principles of Scientific Creative Intelligence (SCI) and encourages students to understand the deeper connections between creativity, consciousness, and the creative process. Readings will draw from a diverse range of authors, including Fred Moten, Albert Einstein, and James Turrell, providing students with a broad perspective on creativity, culture, and identity. Through studio practice, critical discussions, and readings, students will develop their skills in both technique and creative thinking.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will:

2. Understand and apply the principles of Scientific Creative Intelligence (SCI) to their creative practice.
